Macchiato (espresso macchiato; Italian caffè macchiato [kafˈfɛ mmakˈkjaːto]; lit. “stained”) is a coffee drink made by adding a minimal amount (“speck”) of milk, usually frothed, to espresso. Macchiato is significantly stronger and more aromatic, seemingly similar in ingredients to cappuccino.
